Women's Ministries

Women's Ministry at Parkway Heights UMC is a combination of traditional United Methodist Women's circles and non-traditional ways of responding to the needs of women. Women's Ministries includes a variety of retreats, trips to conferences, a mentoring program, and small group studies throughout the year. "Women at the Well" was chosen as the guiding description of these efforts. Women who server, women who grow in Christ, women who enjoy fellowship - these are all the "women at the well."

United Methodist Women (UMW)

United Methodist Women is made up of "circles" or small groups that meet monthly for fellowship and to learn about outreach opportunities. UMW is a global organization, supporting missionaries and actively seeking to promote peace and justice in areas where women and children are impoverished or oppressed. Locally, Parkway Heights' circles support many different projects, including Edwards Street Fellowship Center, which serves Hattiesburg by providing mentoring for elementary children, child care for infants and preschoolers, and a food pantry. Parkway Heights has 6 UMW Circles for women for women of all ages and stages of life.

Trinity Group

Trinity Group is a women's small group that meets weekly for prayer, sharing, and spiritual growth through study. This diverse, multigenerational group chooses short-term study material (usually 4-8 weeks in length) by consensus. Because many of the members of this group work full-time and have a family, they meet during their lunch hour on Monday in the Fireside Room at the church. Some recent studies have included What's So Amazing About Grace? by Philip Yancey, and When God's People Pray, by Jim Cymbala.

Women's Small Groups

Many small groups of women have formed around common interests within the church. Other groups have formed Sunday School classes or accountability groups. The pastors and staff of the church support the formation of new groups and hope that all of our members and visitors will find groups who can support and encourage one another in their spiritual growth as well as in the challenges of daily life.
