The mission to the Navajo Nation is the longest continually running national mission trip at Parkway Heights. It began in 1998 and has continued annually with over 100 different people participating in this experience. The primary purpose is the Vacation Bible School, which averages 20-30 children each year, with over 400 Navajo children and adults having been taught the stories of the Bible during the 16 years of this mission. Other contributions of the mission trip have included small building projects, clothing drives and even a women’s retreat. Each year the people of Parkway Heights fill Christmas stockings and mail them to Navajo children as well.
The Loft Mission
The Loft is a preteen ministry designed for children in 5th and 6th grades. Every other year, this special group takes part in a mission trip to learn about serving others and spreading God's love. The Loft children have traveled to Austin, Texas; Nashville, Tennessee; and Charleston, South Carolina. This year, The Loft will be doing mission work in Jackson.
Every summer, our youth group participates in a Service over Self (SOS) mission trip. Through this ministry, our young people renovate and repair homes of economically disadvantaged homeowners in inner-city Memphis, Tennessee. SOS has been a Parkway Heights tradition for eight years.
